Forklift Accidents
Forklift accidents are normally because of the careless use of the forklift. This takes place when the forklift operator is not trained properly in safety procedures. Anyone operating a forklift has to always be careful in order to lessen the risk of accidents and to avoid possible dangers.

Forklift Accident Statistics:
OSHA, that is responsible for monitoring workplace safety, reports on the occurrence of forklift mishaps. Typically, every three days someone dies in a forklift accident within the United States. Approximately 95,000 injuries occur in forklift related mishaps on a yearly basis. The vast majority of these mishaps could have been prevented if correct safety procedures had been followed. There are even websites dedicated to reporting stories of forklift accidents.

Both individuals and businesses suffer as a result of forklift accidents. There are many reasons why employers must take steps to lessen the risk. One of the biggest reasons is to prevent possibility of lawsuits if somebody is hurt. Secondly, mishaps cut down on working time. Third, property and merchandise could be damaged during mishaps. Most mishaps are attributed to employees who are not well trained. Employers are responsible for making sure that workers who are using the forklift are trained in risks and safety. Never let anybody on a forklift who isn't trained to operate the forklift. Your business must develop and post in a visible location all forklift safety measures.

Rather than going through training because employees are required to, they must have a positive attitude in doing so. You as the employer must help workers know the importance of proper training. Let them know that they could injure or kill not only themselves, but other individuals, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to make sure that all your staff go through training seriously.
