Change an LPG Cylinder
There are various types of sources that can power forklifts. They can run using gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for many applications. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled anytime they need. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders that could be changed out when the machine needs to be refueled.
So as to avoid possible serious injury, certain precautions must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. Like for instance: be certain to wear the correct safety equipment such as heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Make certain that you turned off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is securely closed. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it will turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never use any type of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
