Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries during 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism really impressed customers and therefore, the name was established.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the demand for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, when the requirements for new equipment to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For example, Genie went into production with telehandlers, stick booms, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.
Because of the economic downturn during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who held the same values. They partnered up with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers all around the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the first years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie equipment continue to be marketed under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on offering outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand name over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machines are emission-free, quiet equipment capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machine should be driven significant distances, like within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator along with the benefits of a 48V DC equipment.
Telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach, compared to any of the various aerial platforms. These machines are great for limited access areas or small areas in all types of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machinery provide the drive speed and supreme traction you need to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
