Different Kinds of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a particular type of heavy machine that enables personnel to be raised into the air. These equipment can be used to carry out repairs and maintenance in places which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Similar to nearly all tools, there are various kinds of aerial lifts which could be utilized to carry out different tasks. For the utmost safety, every kind of different type of equipment requires right training and specific qualifications prior to operation.
Scissor Lifts
Genie lifts are another name for scissor lifts. These machines are the most basic kind of aerial lift available. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up by means of pneumatic power and are mostly utilized indoors. Normally, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to big carts. Usually, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody can utilize these devices, workers have to be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
The boom lift is a much more complex type of aerial lift machinery compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift usually has a much wider base in order to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket which enables the operator to lower and hoist the bucket. As the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift resembles a metal scorpion's tail. Traditionally, it is utilized in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate than scissor lifts, thus, operators have to be licensed individually for these types of lifts.
