The forklift is an essential piece of machinery in most businesses which operate warehouses, distribution centers, industrial and storage handling facilities. This wonder machinery, the forklift is made of various parts, such as the essential carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Lift trucks generally have a variety of attachments too. The following are several of the most important lift truck parts.
Engine of the Lift Truck - the forklift truck is made with a power source at the back of the equipment. Various kinds of forklift truck have different kinds of engine that require varying power sources. For instance, a forklift with an IC engine could have any of the following as its source of power: diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Truck Frame - the base of the forklift truck and the most vital of all the forklift parts is the truck frame. This forms the core of the equipment. All other components of a forklift are connected to the base, like for instance the counterweight, overhead guard, wheels, axles and mast. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Lift Truck Components - the counterweight is what enables the machine to be balanced while carrying heavy loads. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is connected to the backend of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift offers balance and can function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Lift trucks will sometimes have closed cabs whilst others would be open to the air. There are really many components situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential parts like for example the seats, pedals, levers, switches, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard has operator readouts.
