Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
Over 200 deaths every year within North America are a result of forklifts, or lift trucks. Proper maintenance and inspection of lift truck tires could help to reduce the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Check
Before the beginning of every shift, the tires on the lift truck must be checked for signs of wear and damage. The air pressure in the tires has to be inspected to ensure the pressure is not very low. Low tire pressure can make the machinery prone to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The selection of tire type must be based on the kind of surface on which the lift truck would be operating. For indoor applications, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are recommended. For surfaces that are smooth, tires tend to be smaller. Bigger pneumatic tires are best for lift trucks being utilized outdoors. Pneumatic tires are able to grip rough surfaces well because they are air-filled and have a rubber tread.

Other factors
According to Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines, all lift trucks require some continual daily and some periodic checks which is carried out each shift. The tires must be checked once more for any indication of damage, such as cuts or wear.

Forklift Safety
Forklift safety is important for any employee or employer utilizing a lift truck because forklift accidents could be serious leading to personal injuries and even death. Even minor mishaps could cost your business money if the forklift or the goods are damaged during a mishap. Be certain you really know a lot concerning forklift safety issues.
