How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, since the ease of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind while trying to carry out tasks that would have otherwise required working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular equipment make it the best choice for carrying tasks from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries have to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
The equipment has to be positioned next to an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button found inside the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, models that are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can potentially happen.
