Narrow aisle forklifts
Narrow aisle forklifts are normally utilized within warehousing operations. These forklifts are vital machines in the industry because their excellent maneuverability and small size allow warehouses to use space to maximum storing capacity. They can easily go around aisles as narrow as 1.8 meters wide, while standard lift trucks need 3.4 meters of aisle width, at least.
The two types are "narrow aisle forklift" and the "very narrow aisle forklift". The former require 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, whereas the latter could function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The design of the narrow aisle forklift features forks which are positioned at right angles to the body of the truck. The trucks do not have to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This particular design feature is the key to their suitability for tight spaces.
To make certain that the forklift is moving in a straight line down the aisle, several very narrow aisle forklifts include optical or wire systems. That way, the operator can focus more on the picking and the placement of loads.
The cushion tires which come with these types of lifts are made of solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on paved, smooth surfaces and concrete floors. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors suited for applications in indoor environments. Propane-powered models are available also.
