Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names including: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of machinery are basically a motorized type of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models as well as "Rider" versions.
Just as the name implies, the walkie model is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit while they transport cargo. The Rider model on the other hand, uses a small platform for which the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent transporting of cargo over extended distances in manufacturing applications and warehouses. They are extremely fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to pick up and transport tall or unstable loads because there are no safety cages on these models. A rider might be the right answer if you are looking for an inexpensive method for moving cargo from one location to another. If though, you must move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the best choice.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machine designed specifically for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the load and the operator with a purpose to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are normally very narrow aisle vehicles that can operate in aisles of less than six feet. They are extremely useful pieces of machinery during cycle counting situations as well as during physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more popular.
