Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to pile up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck is available in quite a few models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is usually utilized. This version consists of telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This particular version is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Within nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can increase production while maximizing available storage space.
